On this beautiful Sunday afternoon, we jumped on our bikes and set off for our first bike ride around the bay. After a quick tour along the shore, Jordan made a sharp right turn up a steep road in search for some breathtaking views. After some leg burning climbs, we reached the top with a lovely view of Lyall Bay.

As we made our way around Island Bay, we decided to stop at the local Marine Education Centre to check out the aquariums full of local sea life.

Inside we saw octopus, crayfish, turtles and even a sea horse! I really want to go scuba diving just so I can see one of those in the wild – that’s been on my bucket list for a while!
Something special about the aquarium was the touch tank were we got to pick up a cool snake star, a sea urchin and an array of anemones.

After a bike ride back to our place, we had worked up quite the appetite, so we decided to take a walk to the other end of the beach to try the famous Ekim Burger.

Jordan ordered the Big John burger while I had to get the Falafel burger (unfortunately I recently developed an allergy to eggs so couldn’t have the John burger too), and according to Jordan they DEFINITELY lived up to their reputation. I really enjoyed the Falafel burger too and their chips with this homemade salsa (Ekim sauce) was to die for! Will definitely be back again!
We finished off the afternoon with a quick dip in the ocean to cool us down 🙂 A lovely way to spend a Sunday!
